Lenten Campaign 2026: 1×3-Classroom Block at Mahilo and Mulamatila
In 2026, Bouwen met Bouma’s will be committed to the construction of two new three-classroom blocks at the Mahilo and Mulamatila schools.
These schools were selected because they are experiencing a significant shortage of classrooms. In practice, this means that sometimes more than a hundred students are accommodated in a single classroom. This makes quality education nearly impossible.
At the Mulamatila school, we also saw a positive development: the government has started construction there of a block of three classrooms. A step that we at Bouwen met Bouma’s wholeheartedly applaud. At the same time, it is clear that more is needed. Since the government made education free, almost all parents send their children to school. This is a wonderful development, but it also creates a huge influx of students. Additional capacity is therefore urgently needed.
By creating these 1×3 classroom blocks, we aim to contribute to:
- smaller classes
- better learning conditions
- more personalized attention
- future opportunities for hundreds of children
Lent Campaign for Our ‘Eigen Doel’ 2026
As we do every year, we submit our projects to the Lent Campaign as our ‘Eigen Doel’ (own goal), hoping to receive a generous additional contribution through the campaign and the parishes. This year, it’s the Maria Laetitia parish in the Achterhoek region’s turn: Ulft, Gaanderen, and Doetinchem are jointly committed to these projects.
Together, we’re not just building classrooms, but also a future.
