A visit of construction coordinator Gerard Schoemaker to Projects 2024 and 2025
19 februari 2024
Projects 2024 and 2025: In the week of February 17th, Gerard Schoemaker visited Zambia for consultation and a progress report in Naliele. This place is right next to Kaoma and that is why Gerard also monitored the last year’s KTTI project. Here follows the story of our enthusiastic new project coordinator about projects 2024 and 2025.
Kaoma Trades Training Center, delivery by BmB!
It was very satisfying to visit the new classroom complex in Kaoma with the chairman of Bouwen met Boumas, Mr. Sishwashwa and Mr. Katete. In July and August I had witnessed the construction of the shell, the plating of the corrugated zinc sheets, the plasterwork, etc., but now we suddenly stood face to face with a magnificent, ochre-yellow, large block of 3 classrooms and 2 offices, see the attached photos.
In the three classrooms we were happily welcomed by enthusiastic students and happy teachers who kept thanking Bmb for all their work. The building gets an extra cachet because they have used luxurious, plastic, wide ceiling panels, provided with a special, beautiful symmetrical motif. The official transfer took place on November 8, last year in the presence of Herman Bouma.
With the completion of this beautiful complex, BmB also completed its largest and most impressive complex to date!

Buildingproces 3 classroom block in Naliele has started!
Together with the chairman, Sishwashwa and Mr. Katete I also visited the construction of the 1 x 3 classroom block in Naliele that started last month. It is a bit special because as you read in the previous newsletter, the senior chief of Barotseland, Western Province lives here. Still an important ceremonial function!
Impressive what work has already been done! Because the excavation work, the foundation, the concrete deck, etc. alone are responsible for 40% of the construction sum. Under the inspiring leadership of our permanent contractor, Mr. Palata, 9 professionals are now working on the further completion of the foundation with the concrete deck. Then follows the bricklaying of the walls, the zinc plating, the finishing, etc.
We also visited the female head of the school where we emphasized that the contribution of manual labour and other services by the community was somewhat behind within the smooth running construction process! She said that the poor condition of the roads, now in the rainy season, was to blame, but assured that she would do everything she could to catch up!
